Finding sustainable seed sources

Following on from the initial piece of work assessing the nation’s ‘Selected’ seed stands (funded by Forestry Commission England), we have now completed the second phase of this important project – a desk study into determining sustainable sources of seed for 14 species of potentially important future timber species, for which no recognised sources of seed currently exist. This important project, funded by Woodland Trust, will have major consequences for future forestry policy. Woodland Trust have recognised the importance of our work in helping them achieve many of their long-term woodland creation objectives and we are delighted to be working so closely with them on this vital project.
