Hornbeam (1)

Call to hornbeam woodland owners for potential seed stands

Future Trees Trust is looking to work with owners of hornbeam woodlands who are interested in registering their woodlands as seed stands.

To qualify for this, your woodland must be dominated by over 30 healthy hornbeam trees of seed producing age (minimum). We can offer administrative help to get your woodland on the register of basic material.

What does this mean?

Your woodland will be added to a register for seed collectors to visit and collect seeds. There may be some financial gain associated with this.

What help is available?

We will help you set up a Forest Reproductive Materials (FRM) account, provide advice and administrative assistance to get your woodland on the register.

Hornbeam (1)

Why?

Hornbeam is an important species under future climate scenarios; it is very tolerant of different conditions and has extremely hard timber.

Interesting in registering your woodland as a seed stand?
